Burgers
This recipe is a great way to use up any seitan batches that didn’t turn out quite the way you wanted, but it can be made with any vegan protein you prefer, too. 💚
Ingredients:
—3 cups mince (you can use cooked lentils, beans, mushrooms, walnuts, TVP, soy curls, seitan, etc.) (I used seitan)
-1 tbs beetroot powder (optional)
—2 tbs vegan beef seasoning
—1 tbs onion powder
—1 tbs garlic powder
—1/2 tbs pepper
—salt to taste (if using a batch of seitan that didn’t turn out, you may not need to add any extra salt)
—1 tbs nutritional yeast (optional)
—pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes (optional)
—1 tbs MSG/mushroom powder
—1 tbs mustard (optional)
—1/4 cup tomato paste (or substitute ketchup)
—2 tbs olive oil
—1 cup flour
—1 cup water
Note: adjust the seasonings to your taste. Depending on which type of mince you’re starting with, you may want more or less seasonings.
Instructions:
1. Mince your protein and make sure you have at least three cups of mince to use.
2. Add all the ingredients together in a bowl and combine well. You should end up with a very sticky mixture.
4. Shape your patties.
5. Heat some neutral oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the burgers and sauté until browned or crispy all over and the flour has completely cooked through (this will take around 20 minutes)
6. Use the burgers immediately, or cool and freeze for later use.
Enjoy!
